The Tour de Studio

I love my studio and believe me, I know how lucky I am to have such a fantastic work area, and since so many people have expressed an interest in a closer look, (and since right now, it’s just about as clean and organized as its gonna get since the ceiling area is finally fixed), I thought it might be a good time to take you on a little tour.

So grab something tall and cold and let me take you on a little tour… nothin fancy, just the highlights. But if after taking the tour you want or need additional info about anything you see, just let me know in the comments section below.

So… I hope you enjoyed this little tour.
Did you see anything that piqued your interest?
If you have any questions or would like further info about anything in our studio, please let us know in the comments section below. We love talking our studio up and if we need to do a follow-up video on a particular area, we’ll schedule that!

  1. What a nice video! My daughter is a grade school teacher — so I noticed the Bad Kitty book peeking out of one of the bookshelves. She LOVES those books.

  2. love your studio and enjoyed the tour! Always looking for good ideas as I am in the process of cleaning out my basement and redesigning the area for my sewing/craft studio and hubbie wants a work out area. Question what is the depth our counter tops and size of your cutting island?

    • Thanks Lucille- By depth I’ll assume you mean from front edge to back wall corner, and that would be 23″ and my cutting island has 2 drop leaf panels, so it can be made much larger or smaller as need dictates, which I really like. 🙂 Have fun with your re-design!

Thank you so much for giving us a chance to see where you create and dream. If I had even half as nice a space, I’d probably sew more.

  4. Thank you for the tour

  5. I am absolutely green with envy. How lucky you are.

  6. Your studio space is so well laid out. I like to have music in my workroom to, easy listening. Love the cabinets you’ve had made, so functional, so jealous. The ones with the slide out shelves – doesn’t get much better than that. It’s all very well organized. The only thing missing was a cat sleeping somewhere it shouldn’t be… ;o)))) Thank you for sharing your space with us…Romona

  7. Beautiful studio! Would have liked see more of your cutting table and the drop leaves. Love your cabinets and all your storage, what a great tour. I remember when you built it, doesn’t seem like 3 years, time flies.

  8. Enjoyed the tour ~ you are really organized! Yours is one of the few Shop e-mails I always read.
    Thanks.

  9. Enjoyed the tour. Very well organized, as I wish I could be. But where is all your fabric??? The one place every one who sews wants to see!

I enjoyed the tour. I love the walk in storage areas. I think I see them in my future studio! The rolling shelves are also a wonderful idea. As well as the drawer units for the regularly used items. What do you use for storing fabric, batting, etc?

  11. Barbara J (Hamden, CT)

I’m right there with Debbi and Veronica … my own sewing area is chock full of fabric, and I was waiting to see yours! Your space is to die for, and I add my thanks to that of the others for the great tour!

  12. Thank you for sharing your space. I love the light and the views are awesome. Great organization for those who help you in the space – such as your dad.

  13. Love your space, all very organized and a space for everything. Curious about one thing – where do you keep your fabric, do you have a stash like the rest of us crazy girls? Nancy from Arizona

  14. What I like most about your studio is how you have customized each element to suit your work. The light is great, the snake…not so much! Thanks so much for sharing. I am in the process of cleaning mine up right now too, what I mess I make.

  15. I enjoyed the video. I especially like the custom cabinet with narrow drawers. What height are the cabinets setup at for the working-cutting out tables and how deep are the table tops around the perimeter of the room. My sewing room has a large cutting table in the middle with my various sewing machines around 2 walls. I am still playing with each machine to fine tune how they are used on my kitchen table. The table can be moved around to accommodate what I am working on, say a quilt or a purse.

  16. Thank you for the tour, and I enjoyed the tour very much. I had to close my mouth, because I was drooling everywhere. I LOVE all of your custom made cabinets. They are absolutely beautiful. I hav some questions about the green “trash can”. Where did you get it? Do you use it for scraps or for trash? I also LOVED your special sewing machine. I have a sewing room, but I could get lost in a sewing studio-forever. Someday, I will be able to turn my master bedroom into a sewing studio. lolololo.

    Thanks again for sharing.

  17. Thanks ALL! Well- my fabric stash probably pales next to many of yours!, but I’ll try to schedule a little look into that area soon! Enjoy your Sunday! 🙂

  18. Thank you, lovely space and well arranged. What are the dimensions of your space, not including the closets, just roughly not exact. I too would love to know where is that fabric! =0)

    • My studio is roughly 15 ft square but there’s two walk-in closets that don’t figure into that as well as a whole wall of enclosed storage. 🙂

I’ll try to get you a little footage of my fabric storage soon, though its rather unimpressive. 🙂

  19. Thank you for the tour. I love the way you are so organized and know just where everything is. I also would love to see your fabric stash.

  20. Kathie B. itssewnice

    Great tour Kath!

Thanks so much. Love your cabinets and drawers and everything is so neat. Neatness is my downfall for sure.

  21. Louise Alexander

Thanks so much for sharing, your studio is awsom.

  22. Great studio (trying not to be too jealous!) But, where is the kitty??

  23. Your studio is the envy of every sewer! You are soooo organized. Congradulation. Your floor plan is great and all the cabinets and drawers are very well planned for your inventory.
