August 2014 Handbag of the Month

poll522bCongratulations to Susan Mautte of Eureka Springs, AR!

She’s the winner of our “July 2014 Handbag of the Month” contest! And what a lovely winner her Guardian is!ย  Her prize? … a $25 virtual gift certificate and a permanent place of honor in our “Handbag of the Month Archive“!

So… When you’re ready to see this month’s entries just scroll down!

This month, we’ve got TWELVE MORE beauties for your consideration!

(And don’t forget, if you click on any individual picture, you’ll be shown a LARGER view!)

poll511Donna Petruso of Dundee, MI is back with another Boho Baguette. This one is fun and flowery and Donna says she made it for her friend!ย  ๐Ÿ™‚
poll520Enisa Durakovic of Slovenia is also back with this spectacular Gadabout! poll520dEnisa tells me that she crafts her bags from imitation leather which definitely complicates the construction just a bit. I find the stitching she has added to the exterior very interesting, and just imagine, Enisa has to type EVERY step of our instructions into “Google Translate” in order to use our patterns!ย  WOW! poll520cAnd you KNOW I love her polka-dotted bias tape!ย  ๐Ÿ™‚
poll523And Kathy Kondo of Anaheim, CA made this Baggalista to show her loyalty to her beloved Anaheim Duck when they were playing in the Stanley Cup playoffs this past Spring. poll523bI’m not sure if Kathy’s bag helped her team win or not, but she said she received LOADS of compliments for her efforts & I can certainly see why! This bag is “just ducky”!ย ย ย  ๐Ÿ™‚
poll524This sophisticated Quattro was created by Margie Laferriere. poll524bShe said that she embroidered this design and THEN decided that it needed to be on a purse! I’m SO glad she did!ย  ๐Ÿ™‚
poll525Karen Wetherall of the UK created this pieced summer Quattro. poll525bShe told me she pieced this look together with fabric from her mom’s vintage fabric stash and it really gives this bag and English Country garden look! poll525cHere’s a peek at the zippered main compartment.
This Harmony Handbag was submitted by Sandra Wilkinson of Sydney, Australia. I was pretty impressed to find out that Sandra embroidered the Gingko leaves on the solid portion of the bag front to match the main fabric! Great job Sandra!ย  ๐Ÿ™‚
poll527This Uptown Saddlebag was created by Kathy Warner of Hubbard, OR. poll527bThis colorful fabric is from Timeless Treasures. poll527cAnd here’s a peek at the full-length main storage area. LOVE this bright interior! ๐Ÿ™‚
poll528And this Vervalise was created by Eddi Engstrom of Phoenix, AZ poll528bHer plan was to give this beauty to her granddaughter for her 8th grade graduation. poll528cI think the green binding really elevates the look of this bag. Eddi said she used green because she thought her bag needed a little extra “bling”.
poll529Shirley Allen of NJ named her Quattro, “Roses Are Red”. poll529bShe accomplished this extraordinary embroidery with designs from BFC Collections. poll529d
I REALLy love that Shirley used red zippers to complete this look and the heart beads she added as a zipper pull are special!ย  ๐Ÿ™‚
poll530And this Quattro by Sylvia Russell of Kamloops, BC has a VERY interesting exterior. poll530cSylvia applied a “chenille” finish to the pouch area which is a first for our patterns! poll530dSylvia worried that this bag might be too young & funky for her, but she sounds like a cool chick to me!
Pat Ross of Ontario, Canada said that she waited to make this Quattro until she could find a special fabric for the front panel and once she did the rest just fell into place. Pat added that although she makes lots of bag as gifts, she’s definitely keeping this one for herself… (and I don’t blame her!).ย  ๐Ÿ™‚
poll532And last but not least, here’s a Quattro with a flair for the dramatic! It was created by Joyce Hykes of Newark, OH.

ย So…there you have it!
